A New Orleans criminal goes on the run when he’s targeted as part of a clean-up in the aftermath of JFK’s assassination. Smart and affecting road trip/chase thriller with a romantic edge and a well-evoked time and place. Recommended.

In Plain Sight: The Life and Lies of Jimmy Savile, by Dan Davies (Quercus, 2014)
A biography of the paedophile celebrity, balanced with the belated investigation into Savile’s crimes. Fascinating and appalling, Davies’ book is the closest we’re likely to get to unlocking Savile and understanding the cultures supporting his offending.
